Beach Bungalows

Built in 1990, Italian-owned Diamonds Athuruga does an admirable job of not showing its age. Sitting on an island off South Ari Atoll in South Ari Atoll, this resort fits a lot into its small plot – five dining locations, an Ayurvedic spa providing treatments and diving center make for a well-equipped experience when visiting South Ari Atoll!

At this resort, 46 beach bungalows sit right on the sand and come equipped with their own private verandah that leads directly into the water. Over-water villas feature canopy beds with large en suite bathrooms as well as tea/coffee making facilities and tea/coffee making capabilities.

All rooms are designed to feel like home away from home with custom-designed furniture, individual air conditioning and ceiling fans, a spacious bathroom featuring double basins and open air shower, furnished deck with chairs and couches and minibars for water villas.

Water Villas

The property features 46 beach bungalows built directly onto the sand, which are accessible via a 20-minute seaplane ride south from Male. Also nearby, house reef offers glimpses into marine life – though manta rays or whale sharks may require boat tours for viewing purposes.

Both accommodations provide free Wi-Fi and air conditioning/ceiling fans. If booking a water villa, for a better lagoon view it would be wise to request an upper-level room.

Water Villa guests have their own dedicated restaurant, Thari, where you can dine on contemporary European and Asian fusion cuisine. In addition to this dining option, Water Villa guests have been highly complimentary about its other onsite eateries which have received high marks from past visitors.
